Coin Flip
Flip a virtual coin for a 50/50 decision. Track your flip history and heads vs. tails ratio over multiple flips.
How it works
Press Flip to animate a coin toss. The result is randomly determined as heads or tails with equal probability. Your running statistics are tracked: total flips, heads count, tails count, percentages, and a visual ratio bar. The last 10 results are shown as labeled circles so you can spot streaks at a glance.
Frequently asked questions
Is the coin flip fair?
Yes. Each flip uses Math.random() which generates a uniform distribution. Over many flips, heads and tails will each occur approximately 50% of the time.
Can I use this for official decisions?
For everyday decisions, yes. For high-stakes decisions, a physical coin or certified random number generator is more appropriate. This tool is great for settling friendly debates.
Why are my results not exactly 50/50?
Randomness means short sequences can be uneven. Over 100+ flips, results converge toward 50%. Short streaks of heads or tails are completely normal and expected.
What is the law of large numbers?
It states that as a random experiment is repeated many times, the average of results converges toward the expected value. Flip this coin 1000 times and you will see the ratio approach 50/50.
