YouTube Thumbnail Grabber
Paste any YouTube video URL to instantly see and download all available thumbnail sizes - max resolution, HQ, medium, standard, and default.
How it works
YouTube stores thumbnails at predictable public URLs based on the video ID. No API key or login is required. Simply paste the URL and all thumbnail sizes are fetched directly from YouTube's servers.

Frequently asked questions
Is downloading a YouTube thumbnail allowed?
The thumbnail is public, and saving it for personal use, research, or as a reaction reference is generally fine. Republishing someone else's thumbnail in commercial work without permission can infringe copyright, so reuse it the way you would any other image you found online.
Why is maxresdefault unavailable for some videos?
YouTube only generates the 1280×720 version when the source upload is high-resolution. Old videos and many shorts only have hqdefault and below.
Does it work for private or unlisted videos?
Unlisted videos still expose thumbnails publicly - the URL pattern reveals them. Private videos do not have public thumbnail URLs and will return 404.
Can I grab the auto-generated thumbnail variants?
Yes, YouTube also serves /1.jpg, /2.jpg, and /3.jpg for each video - three frame samples from the video. The tool shows these alongside the official thumbnail.
